“It was a very, very slippery course so, we knew in the first laps that it was going to be a breakaway, and if not a breakaway then a very small peloton, because everybody had to work hard – it didn’t matter if you were leading or in the back of the pack… when the course is like this, it’s always a hard race.”
“We wanted to make a small group. I believe our team is better when the race is hard, so the tactic was to try and get either Bart or myself into a breakaway with one of our teammates, and try to grind everyone back to our level…”
