MPC Speed

Sure, the development started long beforehand, but the origin of the modern MPC speed wheel first gained attention when it hit the track in L’Aquila, Italy on September 4, 2004.

That day, diminutive Italian Luca Presti did what no-one else could on the L’Aquila track and won the 300m World Title on a wheel that got the whole world talking. The wheel? Black Track 62/84, later to become known as the Black Track XF.

Presti could push where others rolled, power down where others were forced to feather their pushes. The unique and now-Patented design of the Black Track put down more contact area on the track when and where he needed it most – providing more grip under pressure.

Two separate layers of urethane material. The inner: a rebound-enhancing, flexible heart to the tire. The outer: a high-durability rolling surface for high-contact cornering. Both poured onto a unique Turbine Hub that deforms intelligently under cornering pressure to optimize the tire’s contact shape.

After September 4, speed wheels would never be the same. While our competitors tried to emulate our Patents and catch up in wheel performance, MPC refined our already-Patented designs for 100- and then 110mm wheels and amassed World Championship wins in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
