In 2009 the Road War wheels followed up the VT wheels. One year later, Road War sales have even surpassed Storm Surge and BlackTrack quantities. The succes has been amplified by the introduction of the Firm wheel this year.

“At this moment, I think it is the best wheel for whatever track you’re skating on. My first experience with them was Haining, China, for the World Championships. I won the points-elimination. No wonder I’m so positive!”

The succes of the wheels is its diversity. “The Firm is not only my wheel of choice on Vesmaco tracks. I used them in Heerde too, a concrete and slippery banked track. During nationals, I used them on the asphalt track in Zandvoorde.”

Meanwhile, the wheel has won many national titles, set track records and has become the preferred wheel of many unsponsored athletes. ‘Road War’ got famous in less than one year.

What about mixing wheels?

BATL3503“On the track, I use a full set of Road War Firm most of the time. They have such good grip and almost no loss of roll. In races were roll gets more important, for example an elimination race, I put Road War Ex-Firm in between. That’s my favourite mix for marathon races also.”

Aren’t the Firms too soft for road racing?

“No. I skate more comfortable with a little extra grip. During accellerations, I’m more loose and relaxed. In a sprint, I can put more power in my strokes. And in my opinion, Firm’s have almost no fewer roll than other specific road wheels.”

“My opinion?
Roll:8
Grip:9
Rebound:9
